Dear friends, This is the place for you to share your thoughts about my books as well as your tips on writing. Please don't use this as a forum to discuss works by other authors, pro or con. There are plenty of places you can go for general book discussions. I'd like this to be a friendly place where you can get to know others who enjoy my books. Stir up a little controversy if something in a book bugged you, as long as it's done in a reasonably gentle way. Feel free to ask questions of me and each other. I'll sign on as frequently as possible to answer your questions. Okay, then...jump in anytime. Sherryl

"Trinity Harbor Series"

I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 books. Am looking forward to the next series Chesapeake Shores. I have a couple of questions regarding Trinity Shores. In Book 1, About That Man, Tommy's friend's name is Gary, yet in Book 2,Ask Anyone, he is referred to as Pete. In Book2, Bobby's son is called J.C., but in Book 3,Along Came Trouble, he is called J.T. Also in Book 1, I thought I understood that the order of the kids was Daisy, oldest, then Tucker, then Bobby. However, in Book 1 Bobby is referred to as the eldest son. Also in either Book 2 or 3, Tucker is referred to as the oldest. Are these my misunderstandings and typograghical errors? Could you clarify these questions for me? Thanks so much. Sincerely, Dona

Oh dear! Dona, you have caught more mistakes than even I've been aware of. Blame most of it on my right-brain style of writing, which means I just sit down and write and write and forget to even make notes to myself about pesky little things like names. It is a serious flaw, of which I am very well aware. I usually try very hard to go back and check myself on these things, but sometimes I flat-out miss the errors. Unfortunately so do the many other people involved in the editing process. My apologies to you and everyone else who ran across these mistakes and went, "Huh?" I'll try to reform, because it really is annoying.

Thank goodness! I thought I was losing my mind! I just started book 2 and was like Pete? Who the hell is Pete? It's Gary, not Pete, lmao!

Open a book....begin an adventure!

Sherryl, Thanks for replying to my query so quickly. I've never participated in anything like this before and was not sure what to expect. I look forward to communicating with you and other readers in the future. Thanks again and keep those books coming. Dona

I certainly hope to keep the books coming for a while, Dona. The Chesapeake Shores series launches in just a couple of weeks with THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, followed by FLOWERS ON MAIN in late April and HARBOR LIGHTS in late May. Then I'll be in a Christmas anthology with Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr in October, with a reissue of one of my favorites, AMAZING GRACIE, next January, then three more Sweet Magnolia books in March, April, May 2010. Whew! I get tired just thinking about keeping all those names straight!!!

I just started book 2 & had the same thought. I even went back & looked at book 1. Glad I'm not the only one who notices these things. Thanks to Sherryl for answering.

One of these days I need to have a contest for the first person to catch the errors in my books. Just this week a reader caught one that not another soul had ever mentioned. It's downright humiliating. Before I edit this next batch of Sweet Magnolias books I'm going to make lists of everything...names, ages, relationships, then defy anyone to catch me in another one of these glaring errors. SIGH!!!
