Sherryl's Readers' Forum

Dear friends, This is the place for you to share your thoughts about my books as well as your tips on writing. Please don't use this as a forum to discuss works by other authors, pro or con. There are plenty of places you can go for general book discussions. I'd like this to be a friendly place where you can get to know others who enjoy my books. Stir up a little controversy if something in a book bugged you, as long as it's done in a reasonably gentle way. Feel free to ask questions of me and each other. I'll sign on as frequently as possible to answer your questions. Okay, then...jump in anytime. Sherryl

"Welcome to The Corner Spa!"

What started out to be a blog is now going to be one of the conferences on the Readers Forum section of this site. This is the place to discuss health and fitness issues, to share recipes that will take the calories out of a favorite food, and to share fitness tips that have helped you. In my upcoming trilogy for MIRA Books, The Corner Spa is a fitness club designed especially for women. It's a place the characters have created not only for exercise, but for pampering. We can't pamper you here, but we can share tips and inspiration. And there will be lots of reasons to come back...a few encouraging words from other authors from time to time, those recipes I mentioned, and even the occasional guest expert might pop in with suggestions that could make your quest for fitness easier. And there will still be chances to win some of the pedometers from The Corner Spa to help you on the road to a better, more fit new year. Over the next few days, I'll introduce some new topics. Feel free to add your own experiences or frustrations under each one or to launch a whole new topic of your own. Who knows, maybe by the end of 2007 we'll all be a little trimmer and a little more fit and getting there will have been more fun, because we've been able to share the experience with friends. Please do keep in mind, though, that any suggestions you find here should be run past your own health professional. I have lots of experience, but not one grain of medical expertise, so I can only share what's worked -- or not -- for me. Now before reading or writing another word, we should probably all go for a walk! More to come.

We just hired a trainer. i HATE exercising, so i need someone standing over me with a whip -- but we had just read "Younger Next Year" by Chris Crowley and Henry Lodge, MD, and this is as good an approach as i can figure out. for anyone over 50, read this book -- and women should read the one for women to get the menopause, osteparosis stuff -- and then . . . "just do it", i guess. i've finally given up believing that there is any easy way.

Good luck with the personal trainer! It sounds like a great plan for someone who hates to exercise. Please keep everyone here posted on how it goes. And if anyone else has experience with a personal trainer, share it with us. As for me, now that I'm back in Virginia with no steps to climb for exercise, I'm spending a chunk of each day hauling water to my plants, gardening and cleaning out closets. That may not burn many calories, but I bet I use lots of energy hating every second of the closet-cleaning!
